Frequently Asked Questions
Should I book my marina berth or boatyard haul out in advance?
During busy periods all facilities in Grenada get booked up well in advance. As a popular summer storage destination, the June to December period is especially busy and we would suggest having your booking in place by the end of March.
How often do you check boats?
We can provide the frequency of checks you require from twice monthly to daily. For boats in the water, checks should be weekly as a minimum. For hauled boats, a twice a month check will often be sufficient unless there are specific concerns which need to be monitored more closely.
Do you undertake storm preparations?
All boats should be prepared as far as possible from the beginning of the recognised hurricane season (1st June). There are some preparations we can undertake, but we cannot move or haul boats in the event of a weather warning. Discuss your plans with us prior to hurricane season or your departure.
Can you help me prepare my boat for the hurricane season?
Yes we can! Please ask for a copy of our suggested decommissioning checklist to get you started.
Can I buy antifouling paint in Grenada?
We can discuss the best paint for your needs, and purchase and hold paint for you. We recommend getting this set up in advance to ensure your chosen brand and colour of paint is on-hand when you need it. You can also purchase paint directly from chandleries yourself.
Will you take receipt of imported parts on behalf of owners?
Yes we can. It is important that you contact us beforehand so we can advise you of the correct address to use and the documents we need to clear the items through customs. We use a freight forwarder if your supplier is not able to ship to Grenada.
Can I get Duty Free in yacht chandleries?
Yes, take your boat papers (Registration Certificate, Customs & Immigration form & Cruising Permit) on your first visit register at the store.
Can you store my dinghy and outboard?
No, but we can recommend other service providers.
How should I prepare my boat to avoid mildew?
The August to November months can have high humidity and this is an important consideration.
A thorough interior clean is important, especially to remove any traces of salt. Moisture absorbing products such as Damp-Rid can be used. We also have electric dehumidifiers available. If we do find mildew on board, we will wipe it down, then usually clean the whole interior to prevent its re-appearance.
